No that is not Bébé with Sir Alex giving him a hair dryer treatment, but the characters in the movie Great Expectations. Bebe is an orphan just like Pip, but is he lucky in getting Sir Alex as a father figure? It all depends.
I took a long vacation and frankly bologging on the World Cup would have been like "I need a World Cup Blog like I need a bullet in my head" for you guys. So i will start with Manchester United who had a great start to the English Premier League with a 3-0 win against Newcastle United. Sir Alex even commented that United could have won by double figures (what expectations). We all know about Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes, but what is interesting is once again the creative signing of Sir Alex Ferguson. I am talking about Tiago Manuel Dias Correia, otherwise known as Bébé. A £7.4million sigining from Portuguese club Vitória de Guimarães. He only joined Vitoria weeks after he signed from third division Estrala da Amadora, he is a typical street player and literally grew up on the streets and is an orphan. He even played for Portugal in the Homeless World Cup.
He has been recommended to Sir Alex Ferguson by his former assistant, Carlos Queiroz, the Portugal national coach, and a deal has been rushed through for Bébé to become the third signing of the summer at Old Trafford. It takes the club's spending to around £25m following the arrival of Chris Smalling from Fulham and Javier Hernández from Chivas de Guadalajara.
Bébé is 6 feet 2 inches and is willing to always try outlandish things with the ball, so for United this is nothing new. The sigining has the same feeling and buzz that came when Cristiano Ronaldo signed as an unknown from Sporting Lisbon. While Charles Dickens was the author of that novel Great Expectations, Sir Alex has penned his own "novel" with a similiar character like the orphan Pip in the form of Bébé and you could not ask for a better father figure than Sir Alex Ferguson can you?
