More success to come? Villa celebrating the Peace Cup victory in Spain, a 12-team tournament that included the likes of Real Madrid, Juventus, Porto and Lyon. Villa beat Juventus in the final.
I know it has been a while, anyway every year there seems something new to shout about in the Premier League, each time we think that the big four will always dominate, pretenders to the crown step in. This year it is Manchester City and Spurs, so far they have impressed, but what is interesting is Liverpool and Manchester United losing in their first two games. United have not filled the void left by Tevez and Ronaldo while Liverpool make that up with steely players (like last season) and for this season they have a steal in Glenn Johnson.
Losing to Burnley did not go down well with Sir Alex and Berbatov has yet to still really step to the plate. It is a long season, but it is going to a be a "long" one for the Red Devils. Chelsea just seem to get it right this time, I see a resurgence in Deco though I think if you took out Drogba and Essien the team will have some problems, but Ancelotti is shrewder than we thought. Somehow he has hung on to John Terry and though the transfer window is not closed my bet is nobody is leaving Chelsea now.

What I would like to see this season? Remember the Villa team who shocked the pundits by winning the European Cup (now Champions league) in 1982 or Ipswich Town of the late Sir Bobby Robson? They won the UEFA Cup (Europa League now) in 1981. Both these teams gave a shock to the football world.I like to see a English team do that and I hope and think Aston Villa who have a manager in Martin O' Neil who not only embodies the lego style team building of Sir Alex Ferguson and astute man-management of the late Brian Clough, but he is breeding players, local players at that with such patience, the Wigan game was just a small blip.
If their Performance in the 12-team Peace Cup tournament was any indication, Villa will go a long way. Remember that Juventus, Real Madrid, Lyon, Porto were some of the teams who took part in the Peace Cup and in no way was it not competitive. Although I give Villa the benefit of the doubt that they will sparkle next season and not this for this wine is not done yet, but how wonderful it would be to see them win the Europa League this season.
