Red Devils Find Toffees Too Sweet

Everton players celebrate after beating United in the FA Cup Semis, Phil does not look too happy!

I thought of many headlines after this FA Cup Semi-Final, but it it did not matter much. If there was a match of the season for the most boring this was it. What Ferguson was thinking by including Gibson, Macheda (Yes I dare say Macheda!!), Wellback, Fabio and yes even Ji Sung (who is out of form) in the line-up we will never know. The indications might be that the United players are tired and with a  midweek game against Portsmouth coming up, it only makes sense for them to prioritise, having said that I think it would not have hurt to have Rooney and Ronaldo on the bench and I am sure United could have at least wrapped it up in extra time (instead of losing 4-2 on penalties after a 0-0 draw).

David Moyes though must be given credit and the manager of the year award no matter what happens in the remainder of the season, this Everton team are tough nut to crack and held out well, they took their penalties well and in the end Ex-Devils Phil Neville and Tim Howard (not to mention Louis Saha) came back to haunt them, Phil putting in a penalty and Howard stopping two, to Berbatov and Ferdinand hard luck, but a message to Berbatov ...Please...Please rethink how you are going to take a penalty again.

I think the problem with Berbatov was just that. He was thinking too much, between his start-off point & the ball. He should have just gone instinctively, & "let the Force guide the way".

Unless, of course, he was just too nervous & lost focus (i.e. "Kick it low! No, left! Maybe Up! No, right ! Err..err...Arrghh!!..What do I do?..Oh s#$t, I've reached the ball & still not decided which way to kick it !!...")

If this was true, he needs to have a long rethink about his mental strength as a pro player. These mental blocks can destroy your career !
