Recently I have been hearing about football being a boring game because it does not have many so called "thrills" or "spills" as other sports has like Australian Rules football (if you can call that a sport, I have respect for rugby, but not mayhem like that)। Most of this statements come from US or Australia as my cousin gets this statements from the Aussies.
Well they miss the point though, soccer or I like to call it football because that is what it is। The game is about quality and not quantity if you watch a 0-0 game, but you watch a piece of wizardry from Brazilian Rodrigo Taddei (check the video above from UEFA Traning Ground Champions League School that includes Taddei's clip ) who is not even the cream of the crop Brazilian, you know you are watching a very sophisticated game.
Football asks an individual to play as a team, but at the same time get his team out of trouble if he can with whatever bag of tricks he has at his disposal। This trick by Taddei in the Champions League against Greek side Oympiakos shows that the grass can be the canvas and the football player's legs the brush, if this is not artistry I don't know what is.
Football is all about joy you can do many things with that ball, how many things can a kid alone with Aussie rules football or even rugby do if he is alone with just a ball? Football players around the world professional or social can juggle, shoot, chest, do back-heels, volley, head, trap, pass, bang against the wall, etc In other words the game is not just on the field, its magic goes on long after the game is over।
In the end football for a fact is the world's most popular sport and we we coach kids in football many things and not just score goals though that is the point of the game. The second most popular sport?... i am talking facts here in-terms of registered participants around the world..Judo!! Yes now that is one hell of a thrilling sport.
