Good old days for Portugal

The first footballer from Africa to light up the FIFA World Cup, Benfica legend Eusebio was the nine-goal top scorer at England 1966 where his lightning acceleration and lethal shooting inspired his adopted country Portugal to third place.

Well I thought Poland could give a good fight to Germany, but they lost to two goals by Lukas Podolski who is a Pole himself who has a German citizenship. All credit to him as he did not celebrate both goals scored by him for Germany. Croatia, well the nerves got to them and I must say Austria looked good and attacked more, but I think the first group games played by each team is not going to exciting as all would want to garner as much points as possible. Croatia still managed to win 1-0 and I expect them to go far.

Switzerland's loss to Czech Republic was no surprise, I think they lacked couraged, they were the better team as they attacked more, but lacked the killer touch and seemed to happy for a draw until the goal by the Czechs, which gave them 1-0 victory.

What a game by Portugal though skill and fantasy is back and I hope it will get stronger with this Portugese team, they not only have the flair, but they also have that steel, which is a vital ingredient in switching from attck to defence.

This team will go far at least the romantics want it too, go on Portugal, bring the glory days back!!!You once were known as the Brazilians of Europe in the 1960s (until Yugoslavia and Croatia claimed it) win it back!
