Abramovich and his motley crew at Chelsea? No sorry it is another circus show on HBO.
The dismantling of the "Royal London Circus" has begun, it was a great show to start with though it was better with the previous ringmaster Jose Mourinho. For Avram Grant it was more like that TV hit series Carnivale. Carnivale follows a traveling carnival as it wends its way across the Dust Bowl, focusing on Ben Hawkins, a mysterious 18-year-old fugitive with hidden talents who is taken in by the carnival, and Brother Justin, the charismatic, shadowy evangelist who will ultimately cross his path. The series takes place at a time of worldwide unrest, with evil on the rise around the globe and the Great Depression wreaking economic and social havoc here at home.
The sacked Avram Grant could easily play the role of Hawkins (though we will never know if he had any hidden talents so hidden even he does not know) and Abramovich as Brother Justin. Many players are now expected to follow an exodus Essien, Drogba, Makelele, Lampard, Carvalho, Ballack and even more. The backroom staff is alo likely to clear out including Steve Clarke, but it remains to be seen if coach Henk Ten Cate will stay if Frank Rijkaard arrives. Former England manager and Chelsea captain Terry Venables however thinks that the clear out would backfire Chelsea, "No-one could have done a better job than Grant given the circumstances of the job he inherited after Jose Mourinho was sacked," the former England boss told The Sun.
"His work has been largely unappreciated and, because he replaced the Special One, he has cruelly been treated as public enemy number one.
"It's hardly fair - but then football's not fair."
Venables added: "The problem for Chelsea is that another summer of turmoil will play right into Manchester United's hands."
Mourinho meanwhile has taken a swipe at Grant saying that his record of nearly winning everything is a mark of a loser, though I think Mourinho is a great coach I think he is unfair in his remarks towards Grant. It is always harder to do it with a team you inherit and under that circumstances it was tough.
Meanwhile John Terry is looking forward to next season (What else can he say?) and he says that he wants to win the Champions League as a player and a manager in the future (I think Terry is still in shock we need a doctor here) one step at a time Terry, try winning it as a player first.
Whatever it is this circus was fantastic and I think the London circus will continue to flourish with Russian management though not as good as before, it will still make heads turn....STEP RIGHT UP FOR THE NEW SEASON GET YOUR TICKETS NOW!!!!
