Well the dust has settled (at least it seems that way) after the big four clashed between themselves when Chelsea beat Arsenal 2-1,Manchester United beat Liverpool 3-0
We hear the obvious of course, Liverpool players and the rest involved with Liverpool crying foul over the sending off of Mascherano. Benitez said that it changed the game, oh please get real! Liverpool have not beaten United in the last 8 meetings now, so Benitez should not make excuses or perhaps he was looking for one.
Remember that when Portsmouth were an given an unfair penalty aginst United in the dying minutes of the FA Cup quarter final,Kuszck the United goalkeeper got sent-off,United players did not crowd the referee and argue, they just got on with the job.
The fact is Benitez lacks the ruthless streak that you need to win the Premiership. He must know that tactics start not on the field, but off the field too. The old hound Ferguson knew this and he started talking about the players crowding the refs long before the match and whether that had any effect on the match it was a good tactic nevertheless and Mascherano bought it lock, stock and barrel.
Meanwhile William Gallas must realise that leadership is something that should be natural you dont pretend to behave like a leader by being a lunatic. I think Gallas
is trying to get the label of being a Roy Keane type of player, you need to have charisma for that and Gallas lacks that big time.
Wenger should know better by naming Gallas captain just because he is French. Remember when Bobby Robson and Mourinho was together at Barcelona they made a brave decision when they took the captaincy from the Catlonian favourite Guardialo and naming the Romanian Popescu the captain. They got alot of pressure from the fans and media but it worked out in the long run. For Wenger it should be easier the players at Arsenal dislike Gallas for his behaviour and comments to the press and the Arsenal fans are not exactly camping outside the Emirates asking Gallas to be the captain so why not change?
Cristiano Ronaldo and United meanwhile fly high but with games against Middlesborough, Blacburn Rovers, Chelsea, etc the season is hardly over.
All in all this league is one interesting marathon so far and Ferguson is still the champion marathon man come what may be.
