Arsenal shoot themselves

Barcelona won the Champions League...finally, a 2-1 victory over Arsenal, though it was not the classic of last year nevertheless the best team won. Andy Gray (the commentator) was wrong in saying he will never know if the best team won the Champions League (he said this because the ref he believes spoilt the game when Lehman was sent off, but he jumped at it when Barca took the lead), funny Andy when Arsenal took the lead and looked like they were sailing for a win you never mentioned this. Let us get this straight..the referee could have sent off Lehman and still given a goal to Barca, Arsenal were lucky.

The ref was right in sending off Lehman as he was the last man in the line of defence. When Arsenal scored Eboue actually took a dive before Henry took that freekick for Sol Campbell to head in and score....so what about that? It should not have been a goal, so much for Eto being offside in the equalising goal for Barca.

Barca were firing all cylinders and kept pounding the Arsenal goal, we have seen matches where 10 men are outwitted but not in the manner that Arsenal were, something had to give way...Henry looked like he needed an oxygen tank when he was taking a breather near the corner flag (but he was the best player for Arsenal on the night). Ashley Cole and Sol Campbell were not exactly match fit.

Ronaldinho, Deco, Edmilson, Eto and later Larsen and Beletti were fantastic in showing good work ethic...in the end funnily enough Barcelona did not win it with the total flair that they are famous for, but in this match they combined flair with a good work ethic...it was a lot of running and tackling on their part too...but is it really a surprise about Arsenal losing? In the end Arsenal showed their "true form" the self destructive button and this time in the form of Lehman and when the chips were down Arsenal could not rise to the occasion..unfair? Well Arsenal are known for their volatile players and today was Lehman's turn.

There are some things that Arsenal must learn from Liverpool and Manchester United the masters of the English League (yes I hear the screams..what about Chelsea? Well they too have to prove themselves despite winning two EPL titles) when it comes to chips being down and coming back...there are no better teams than these red armies, be it in Europe or the domestic front and they don't self destruct, time for Wenger to go back to the drawing board.
