Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha of Manchester United have proven to be a great buy
Manchester United need a new transfer strategy, Jason Wilcox the director of football together with Omar Berrada, the CEO and Christopher Vivell, director of recruitment might have stumbled upon it accidentlly, a hidden strategy.
Benjamin Sesko is another buy much like Rasmus Hojlund, a flop. Sesko looks lost on the field, almost unrecognisable from the dynamic displays he showed for Red Bull Leipzig, his 12 matches, 2 goals and 1 assist for United is not exactly what United were looking for. Bryan Mbeumo signed from Brentford and Matheus Cunha signed from Wolves have turned out to be great buys, this is because they have been tried and tested in the Premier League, Manchester United have not gotten away from their transfer tragedy of sorts in the last few years. The three personnel mentioned above maybe might bring some semblance of order to the transfer market and not sign players who don't fit the bill at United, perhaps signing players who are in the Premier League might not seem such a bad idea. The risk factors of it working out goes up compared to players signed from foreign leagues where the pace is slower, the Mbeumo and Cunha transfer proves it. Are United getting it right when it comes to transfers from outside of England going in for United?
As stated in various media outlets and football-observatory.com https://football-observatory.com/WeeklyPost460 the English League is the fastest in-terms of most sprints and runs (also most runs overall in terms of distance covered). Spurs and Bournemouth top the European rankings in the top 2 for sprints, yes Bournemouth!
If you look at players like Scott McTominay, Rasmus Hojlund, Antony, Mason Greenwood and Marcus Rashford, they have lighted up the leagues they are playing in which is Italy, Spain and France. It really shows how tough the Premier League is and how slow the continental leagues are.
Harry Kane scored a total of 280 goals in 435 appearances and at Bayern Munich in just 1 and a half seasons, he has already scored 114 goals in 120 matches. An astounding record, it goes to show how much of time he has in Germany to put the ball away, here in Germany, Kane can be more technical. Getting back to Manchester United, perhaps a domestic hunt on existing players would be great and lower the risk factor of it not working out.
In the centreback position, which United need to fill next season, a few candidates emerge as shown in squawka and the scores given by Squawka :
1) Ruben Dias (Man City) – 74%
2) Omar Alderete (Sunderland) – 74%
3) Trevoh Chalobah (Chelsea) – 73%
4) Gabriel (Arsenal) – 73%
5) Malick Thiaw (Newcastle) – 72%
6) Dan Ballard (Sunderland) – 71%
7) Cristian Romero (Tottenham) – 69%
8) Joe Rodon (Leeds) – 68%
9) Marc Guehi (Crystal Palace) – 68%
10) Tyrone Mings (Aston Villa) – 68%
Missing from here is Marc Guehi of Crystal Palace and he is definitely a target with Liverpool eyeing him too. Except for Ruben Dias and Gabriel the rest of the candidates can be an option and open to a move for United. In the defensive midfield position players like Josh Cullen of Burnley, Elliot Anderson of Nottingham Forest or Moses Caicedo of Chelsea could be a good target, though it will be hard to price him away from Chelsea.
With Sesko firing blanks, United still have not got a striker, the last time United had someone of caliber was Zlatan Ibramovic and Cristiano Ronaldo in his second stint. Ruud Van Nistelrooy was one of the best and for this and obviously Wayne Rooney. United might have to get one from outside of Britain, as the ones in the Premier League will be extremely costly or might not fit the standards of United and the search goes on with Hojlund and Sesko not living up to it.

Would be awesome to see more pieces on Manchester United, tracking former and recent Man Utd players now performing in other leagues (that performance watch angle is gold), plus regular takes on the Premier League and the build-up to the coming World Cup.
